Overhaul of Hoist Emergency Brake Cylinders

Project Overview
Kim Son Technology Service successfully completed the replacement of all oil seals and seal kits for the hoist emergency brake (E-brake) cylinders on eight (08) RTG cranes at Vietnam’s largest container terminal. The project was executed with zero unplanned downtime and returned every crane to full, fault-free operation.
Scope of Work
- Safe removal and reinstallation of hoist E-brake cylinders using calibrated hydraulic torque wrenches
- Full replacement of all seals (cover seal, piston seal, rod seal, cylinder static seals, and o-rings)
- Pressure testing of each cylinder to 330 bar (1.5 × working pressure)
- Precise adjustment of E-brake mechanical gap and proximity sensor gap under no-load and simulated load conditions
- Final functional testing and elimination of all hydraulic leaks and electrical faults
- Issuance of 12-month warranty on parts and workmanship
The Result
All 24 hoist E-brake cylinders returned to perfect working condition:
- Zero hydraulic oil leakage
- Zero E-brake fault alarms during operation (loaded or unloaded)
- Smooth, reliable emergency braking performance confirmed
- Full CMIT operations resumed immediately after each crane was released
